Various jubilee aspirants vying for posts in Murang’a County have promised residents that they will ensure every child acquires basic education once they are elected into office.
Speaking at Ithanga sub-county during a public forum to inaugurate a new chief for Kirathani location, the leaders promised to work on ensuring children got quality education as well as improved infrastructure.
Gatanga MP Nduati Ngugi said that his main focus will be to advance both primary and secondary education and also ensure equitable distribution of bursaries to needy students so as to improve performance in the county.
“I have been working together with parents, teachers and also the learners to make sure that there is great understanding and for me to know what the students need for their learning.” Ngugi said.
Ngugi added that he will build laboratories in the local day schools and provide equipment needed by the learners for their studies to make sure there is improvement.
Waithira Muithirania who is eyeing the women representative post stated that she will set aside money to educate girls who have been forced to engage in other business due to lack of school fees.
“I will set aside money to educate the girls that have been left out due to lack of school fees and support. I will also sensitise the community on the importance of education,” Muithirania said
She also promised to work with the local administrators in order to tackle the issue of early pregnancies.
Jamleck Kamau, the gubernatorial aspirant, on his part, said he will help in improving the roads and water connectivity in the sub-county.
“I have been here in the past years and most of the roads have not been tarmacked yet and I know this is causing difficulty in transport so my government will work together with the national government to ensure that the roads are tarmacked,” Kamau said.
He added that he will provide medicine and improve quality of services at the level four hospital which will help the residents get quality health care.
The leaders also called for peace and tolerance throughout the campaign period.
