Tana River Senator-elect Danson Mungatana has pledged to support Governor Dhadho Godhana in his development agenda.
In his first term Governor Godhana fell out with his then Deputy Governor Salim Batuyu sparking endless wrangles between the executive and County Assembly.
Danson Mungatana who was elected on the UDA party ticket while Godhana successfully defended his seat on ODM opted to bury their political differences and team up for the common good of the county.
“In this new term, we leaders want to assure the people of this county that we will work together to provide them with service delivery as needed,” said the senator-elect during the inauguration of Governor Dhadho Godhana.
Mungatana said the county will strive to improve the living standards of the people to reduce poverty levels if the leadership were united for development.
“We will work together, the governor will work with our county assembly irrespective of our political affiliations, the speaker will work with the senator,” he assured
Hirimani ward MCA Ismail Kodobo who spoke on behalf of MCAs elect, assured that the county assembly will cooperate with the executive to see development projects were implemented.
“We want to give our assurance that we will work with your office because of the people of Tana River”. He said,
Governor Godhana urged candidates who were unsuccessful to accept defeat and prepare for the 2027 polls. He promised to work closely with the county assembly members for the benefit of Tana residents.
He said, “As always happens in elections, there are winners and losers. However, that does not erase the fact that irrespective of the outcome of the election, we remain members of one great family called Tana River County.”
“But now that the political contest is over, I call upon everyone in Tana River, including all former aspirants, to come together and focus on building our county.”
County Commissioner Thomas Sankei said the national government will cooperate with the county administration in service delivery to the public.
