A Makueni law court has today ordered that a woman whose granddaughter sustained injuries in a road accident that occurred on October 22, 2021 along Wote- Machakos Road be compensated a total of sh. 534,102.
Magistrate Elizabeth Kemei awarded Ann Musui sh. 534,102 for compensation for the injuries her granddaughter (name withheld as she is a minor) sustained and treatment expenses incurred.
According to court documents Musui blamed the driver for motor vehicle registration number KCS 083V belonging to Sarah Munyao for careless driving that caused the accident.
The court heard that the minor was walking along Wote-Machakos road at Kyambalasi area when the vehicle lost control and deviated from the road and hit the minor.
The minor was rushed to Makueni County Referral Hospital where she was admitted for over one month and discharged on December 1, 2021 and recuperated at home while on medication.
A medical report stated that she sustained blunt trauma on the right thigh and fractured mid right femur.
The report further showed the minor had multiple cut wounds at forehead and face, was admitted to the surgical ward for another one month and was put on a skin traction for six weeks.
Masui told the court the family incurred expenses amounting Sh. 34,102 on medical expenses and vehicle search.
