Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Murang’a chapter chairperson Mbue Ndegwa has called on members of the public to take advantage of the legal awareness week to seek and access legal services on pro-bono basis.
The annual event held every October runs from October 23 to October 27 at the Kenol law courts, Kandara law courts and at the Murang’a high court.
“All members of the public are welcome at any of the three courts where we have desks and advocates ready to offer free legal advice” he said
Ndegwa noted that the move is aimed at giving back to the society and ensuring that all people access justice timely and effectively.
“During this week we will offer free legal advice to members of the public by pro-bono lawyers as we get to identify cases for possible mediation arbitration, and litigation” he added
The legal clinic also seeks to bring legal services closer to people who ordinarily would not afford to have access to lawyers.
The year’s theme for the legal clinic is unlocking justice collective effort to de-congest prisons and deliver legal aid.
