A middle-aged woman was arraigned in a Busia law court charged with dumping her child due to frustration.
Janet Oluch pleaded guilty for abandoning her 11-month baby outside the gate of her estranged husband Suleiman Juma near Farm View Hotel on June 14, 2022.
Appearing before Busia Chief Magistrate Lucy Ambasi, Oluoch pleaded guilty for the offence, attributing it to anger and frustration.
In her judgment, Ambasi gave orders that Suleiman the father of the child be conjoined in the offence, and that the matter be taken to Busia children’s department for further direction.
Meanwhile, both Janet and her estranged husband were slapped with a Sh200,000 fine or 5 years imprisonment each for child neglect.
In another case, an Ethiopian was also arraigned for being in the country illegally.
