Police in Kilgoris Sub County have intercepted an Isuzu lorry transporting 510 cartons of contraband Supermatch cigarettes with 5000 cigarettes filters all valued at Sh82, 250, 000.
Narok police commander Kizito Mutoro said a 40-year-old man who was in the vehicle has been arrested while the driver of the said vehicle escaped arrest.
Mutoro said the police were acting on an intelligence report from the members of the public and upon searching the vehicle, they found the contraband goods packaged and sandwiched between 81 bags of rice.
Mutoro said the one person arrested namely Anthony Mahiri would be arraigned in court and charged with being in possession of uncustomed goods contrary to the law.
