Nassir to address salary delay for Mombasa workers

Mombasa governor elect Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir has assured county workers that their salaries would be paid on time during his tenure.

Nassir notes that his administration will also offer training to staff for career progression and for better service delivery.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with Human Resource Managers from all the 47 counties, the governor-elect said that he will not discriminate against county staff from the previous administration or based on different political ideologies.

He noted that he will make employees have the desire to serve the Mombasa people by putting more emphasis on their welfare.

“Employees are the engine for any government to deliver its mandate to its people. We will not victimize any staff for their political ideologies but instead pay their salaries on time and check on their welfare to ensure better service delivery,” he said.

The governor elect who is expected to be sworn into office on Thursday 15, 2022 has also asked the county Public Service Board to prioritize service delivery to people without discriminating on political affiliations.

“Elections are now over, it’s time to serve the people of Mombasa, when I put down my Quran after the swearing in, I expect to see a team that is open minded and can work with anyone from any political division,” he said.

He asked the board to offer quality support to the new governors for smooth running of county activities.

Nassir is expected to be sworn in on Thursday at Mama Ngina waterfront.

Preparations for his inauguration have started as the Swearing-in committee confirmed that everything is set for the occasion.

County Secretary Job Tumbo who is also the chairperson of the Swearing-in committee said that they have invited guests including governors of the coastal region for the event and at least 2500 Kenyans to witness the swearing in of Mombasa’s second governor.
