Shock has gripped Chimoi village in Matete Sub-County after a man reportedly killed his wife using a hammer.
Reports indicate that the suspect Jacob Mutevesi Barasa, 31 had had perennial quarrel with his 26-year-old wife.
But according to Lwandeti Location Acting Chief, Thomas Luvonga, Barasa the suspect, returned home very late in the night and confronted his wife Melvin Namisi where they engaged in a fight leading to the murder.
“I received information from members of the public that there was a man who had killed his wife, I rushed to the scene where I confirmed the incident before alerting the police,” said the chief.
He said the suspect killed his wife by hitting her with a hammer and a piece of wood which were found inside the house with blood stains.
“The body had serious visible injuries on the head and fingers after being smashed using the hammer,” said the local administrator, adding that the two have been in regular feud.
Police managed to rescue the suspect from an angry mob who was baying for his blood and took him to Matete police station where he is being held as investigations go on before being arraigned in court.
The body was removed from the scene and taken to Webuye Sub County hospital mortuary.
