The County government of Baringo has opened a condolence book for members of the public to pay tributes following the sudden death of the county’s deputy governor (DG) Charles Kipngok.
Acting County Secretary Elijah Kipkoros stated that they have set a table for condolence outside governor’s office in Kabarnet town for the departed DG, who was proclaimed dead at JKIA after developing breathing problems on Wednesday evening.
Kipkoros stated that all residents and other people from all walks of life are free to visit the county offices to offer their condolences, adding that signing of the condolence book shall continue throughout the mourning period till the date of his final sendoff yet to be announced.
“Right now, there are a lot of activities which the county government led by governor Benjamin Cheboi is coordinating in order to give our departed deputy governor a respectful send off,” he said, while addressing journalists on Thursday afternoon outside the governor’s office grounds.
The County Secretary asked the general public to continue praying for the bereaved family and the county administration throughout these trying moments.
Winnie Chemase, Baringo County Assembly Clerk, while eulogizing Kipngok who was the immediate former chairperson of Kenya Tea Growers Association, KTGA, said they have lost a leader who has a wealth of experience on financial management who was also a mentor to many.
Chemase stated that the demise comes at a time when things were taking shape for the third government whereby the Assembly was at an advanced stage to conduct the swearing in of Ward representatives, MCAs, next Wednesday.
“This is a sad moment which has really disoriented the plans that we had installed for the people of Baringo to witness swearing in of their MCA’s,” she said.
The County Assembly Clerk said consultations were underway to try and see if they might postpone or not the first sitting of the Assembly, which they shall give appropriate feedback in due course.
