Young professionals from Tharaka Elite Welfare Association (THEWA) have lauded the appointment of Prof Kithure Kindiki as Cabinet secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National government.
Kindiki was appointed on Tuesday as CS following the unveiling of the Cabinet by President William Ruto.
The former Tharaka Nithi senator takes over from Dr Fred Matiang’i who was the CS under Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
Speaking during a press briefing at Chuka picnic grounds, Isaac Muthuri Musee the chairperson of THEWA said that it was a great opportunity for the county and appreciated the president for appointing Prof Kithure to the position.
“As young professionals, we are happy and motivated that one of our own has been given a senior position in the government. We know that Kindiki is brilliant, knowledgeable and up to the task to help the current administration,” Muthuri said
Musee expressed their confidence in the new administration to complete previous development projects in the county.
On his part, County ICT director, Godfrey Maruta who is also a member of the association echoed Musee’s words and urged the government to complete pending projects.
“We hope that some of the projects like roads will be completed by the current administration so that the economy of the region can improve through the transportation sector,” Maruta said.
Similarly, Silas Kariuki Mitugo, a member of the association congratulated Prof. Kindiki for his appointment citing that he is up to the task and will deliver his work in the sensitive docket.
Senior reporter Alex Njeru expressed that the appointment of Kindiki as the first CS from Tharaka Nithi was a great achievement to the County.
Other leaders that came out to congratulate the professor include Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, Woman Representative Susan Ngugi, Tharaka and Chuka MP Gitonga Murugara and Patrick Munene respectively.
The leaders expressed confidence in him noting that he is up to the task and will strongly handle the sensitive docket in charge of provision of security and safety to people and property.
