President Dr. William Ruto Sunday assured residents of Homa Bay County that he will fulfill all the development pledges he made to them as he campaigned for presidency.
Homa Bay becomes the first county the president has visited in the Nyanza region since he took office as the fifth Head of State recently.
The President was attending a prayer service at African Inland Church (AIC) in Homa Bay Town, accompanied by ICT Cabinet Secretary nominee Eliud Owalo, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, Ugenya MP David Ochieng and former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, among other leaders.
Dr. Ruto said that he will work together with the leaders from the region to ensure quality service delivery in as far as development was concerned.
The President urged all the county stakeholders including women, famers, investors and the business community to unite and work together with his government for the sake of development of the county.
He promised to work closely with the local leaders to complete pending projects including the sewerage system in Homa Bay Town and water supply especially in Kendu Bay Town, Sindo, Rangwe, West Karachuonyo and Oyugis towns.
He also requested the residents to be patient for budgeting process to be completed before all the pending road constructions projects are finished.
“I will ensure that all areas within Homa Bay County are accessible,” the President assured.
The Commander-in-Chief promised to visit the county again next month to fulfill his promise of building about five thousand affordable houses. “Having affordable houses within Homa Bay will be of great help in boosting youth employment,” Ruto said.
The President said that he is looking forward to establishing technical colleges within the county to enable youths to acquire skills stressing: “I will speak to your area MP to identify places where we can initiate the establishment of technical colleges to help our youths to gain vital skills as far as technology is concerned.”
On Agriculture, the Head of State promised to work with the County Governor to ensure that area farmers adopt modern farming methods. “We will provide livestock farmers with modern Artificial Insemination (AI) services to improve productivity,” he added.
The President also said that he is going to boost the cotton production in the region by providing the farmers with the new BT cotton seeds, which are resistant to diseases, even as he promised to work for all Kenyans regardless of who they voted for, in order to promote national unity.
