Migori County to prioritise Health Sector

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko has said that the health sector in the County will be given a special priority during his tenure.

Speaking after officially opening the County Assembly, Ochilo said that he will ensure Level 4 Migori Referral Hospital achieves ultra-modern Level 5 status.

He noted that the hospital will be equipped with functioning Intensive Care Units (ICU), HDU and Renal Unit facilities to serve the residents.

Ochilo added that the county will also establish a cancer centre to help cancer patients seeking services outside the county.

The Governor said that his administration will ensure the health services are devolved at ward level to serve the residents at the lowest level as well as help decongest the referral.

He called upon the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to work in harmony with the executive to deliver on the promises made during the campaigns.

On education matters, Ochilo emphasised that he will introduce bursaries to help the less privileged students pursue their education.

He said that education was an important aspect of his administration and true human resource development for the future generation.

In the second County Assembly, the Education and Support Bill was one of the bills that were tabled on the floor but were never passed. The bill sought to establish funds to help less privileged but bright students access education.
