Samburu CECs take oath of office

Samburu County Executive Committee Members (CECs) were today sworn in office with the Governor Lati Lelelit describing them as the most educated and experienced team that has ever been appointed in the devolved unit.

Speaking after witnessing the swearing in of the ten CECs in his office, Governor Lelelit expressed optimism in the new team and directed them to work towards improving the lives of all residents of Samburu.

“You are commencing work at a time when our county is facing many challenges including drought, I therefore urge you to work towards improving the lives of all residents without favouring the areas you hail from,” he said.

The governor assured the CECs that he will not meddle in their day-to-day affairs but will expect performance results at the end of every quarter.

Samburu Senator Steve Lelegwe urged the County Assembly to carry out its oversight role to ensure that the executive properly utilizes funds to serve the people.

Lelegwe noted that there are critical dockets like water, agriculture and health which need immediate improvement considering the ongoing drought that has hit the region.

The CECs who took the oath of office include Elly Loldepe (Agriculture, Livestock, Veterinary services and Fisheries), Evelyn Lentaano (Culture, Social services, Gender, Sports and Youth affairs), Mark Engelan (Education, Technical and Vocational training), Sylvana Kaparo (Finance, Economic planning and ICT), David Loosenge (Lands, Physical planning, Housing and Urban development), Dr. Nasir Lekudere (Medical services, Public health and Sanitation).

Others are Moses Leluata (Roads, Transport and Public works), Raphael Lebaiyarra (Tourism, Trade, Enterprise development and Cooperatives), Rose Lekalesoi (Water, Environment, Climate change natural resources and Energy).

Wilson Lesuuda also took over as the County Secretary and head of public service while Peinan Lorinyokie maintained her position as the County Attorney after serving in the previous administration.
