Police in Homa-bay County are investigating a horrific incident in which a 28-year-old woman was found murdered in her rented house at Rodi Kopany trading center in the outskirts of Homa Bay town.
The body of the late Mary Kwamboka Ogechi, a former health worker at a private health facility was found lying in a pool of blood inside the house. The body was found by her neighbor who had gone to visit the deceased at around 11am Sunday but found her door locked with a padlock.
However, when the neighbor peeped through the window, she was shocked to see her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood on the floor. The deceased is suspected to have been stabbed using a kitchen knife at night before the assailant locked the door from outside and disappeared.
According to the Homa-Bay County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCIO) Abed Kavoo, Kwamboka is suspected to have been killed by her boyfriend Saturday night following a disagreement over a suspected love triangle.
Kavoo said the body had deep cuts on the neck and face indicating that the victim was stabbed with a kitchen knife by her boyfriend who went underground after the incident, adding that they recovered a knife stained with blood at the scene.
He said that police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who is still at large, while the body of the deceased has been moved to the Homa-Bay County Hospital Morgue as investigations continue.
Kavoo appealed to the public to volunteer any information they may have on the whereabouts of the murder suspect.
