Manyatta Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji has pledged to ensure that resources are evenly distributed in his Manyatta constituency in Embu County so that all his electorates feel well represented.
The MP made the pledge after an inaugural meeting with the National Government Constituency Development Fund Board members at Manyatta NGCDF office in Embu.
He said that he would carry out a comprehensive survey in his Manyatta constituency that would help him in the equalization of projects all over the constituency.
The MP also said that the comprehensive survey that would be carried out would help him gather critical information on those students that are needy and deserve to be awarded bursaries.
He added that the November 29 gazettement of the constitution of the NGCDF board was after the interpretation of the court order by the Government on what it takes or pertains on the issue of continuation of the NGCDF.
The MP said that the Treasury has committed to the Parliament through a letter that it would be releasing Sh2 billion weekly for the continuation of the fund.
Mukunji said that he was going to move with speed to carry out public participation forums in his constituency to ensure that the constituency Project Management Committee (PMC) that he would work with is elected by residents of Manyatta constituency.
“It’s very key to note that am not going to impose people to my electorates. If you are interested in being in Project Management Committee, you should know that it’s your people that are going to elect you and not me,” he said.
The first time MP also said that Kenya Kwanza allied MPs would institute a process of recalling EALA Member Winnie Odinga for failing to show up in State House for a meeting with the President on Monday.
He said that her failure to attend such an important meeting that was attended by all the EALA members was a clear interpretation that she had started failing in her representation duties.
The MP said that the EALA members’ meeting with the President was to discuss official matters and the interests of Kenya in EALA but it was unfortunate to see Winnie Odinga snub the meeting.
On the same tone, he said they would summon the EALA legislator to the Parliament to answer questions why she did not attend the meeting at Statehouse led by the President.
Embu North DCC William Owino urged Manyatta NG-CDF committee to serve Manyatta electorates with dedication and transparency.
“May you serve the people of Manyatta with utmost dedication, selflessness, integrity, transparency and equity without fear, favour, affection and ill-will,” said Owino.
