The Canadian Embassy in Kenya has issued a warning to Kenyans seeking to immigrate to Canada, advising them to be wary of a new scheme that promises well-paying jobs and hassle-free entry into the country.
The scheme reportedly targets unsuspecting job seekers, offering them unsolicited invitation letters and guarantees of lucrative deals.
To avoid falling victim to this scam, the embassy advises against sharing personal and financial information, and encourages applicants to follow stipulated application processes.
The warning comes after plans were announced to secure jobs in Canada for Kenyans, highlighting the need for caution when dealing with immigration schemes.
The online scam was exposed days after Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua revealed plans to secure jobs for Kenyans in Canada.
Mutua made the announcement after meeting Canadian deputy ambassador to Kenya Warren Mucci on Saturday, February 11, in Kwale.
“I will be engaging the Government of Canada later this year by sitting down with my counterpart to agree on the number of jobs Kenyans will get so that students studying here can apply for jobs in Canada,” Mutua stated.
