Kenya Airways and Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) have recently held discussions to explore the possibility of collaborating on cargo transportation, according to Tanzanian news agency, The Citizen Tanzania. The talks took place as ATCL prepares to receive its first 54-tonne Boeing 767-300 freighter. KQ Group Managing Director, Allan Kilavuka, suggested that the two airlines may work together in various capacities, utilising each other’s freight, equipment, and expertise to reduce operating costs and increase commercial opportunities. ATCL’s Managing Director, Ladislaus Matindi, added that cooperation would be beneficial to exploit the large African market, especially for the transportation of passengers and cargo, and improve operational effectiveness. The collaboration could also result in the exchange of knowledge and hands-on training, which would help to increase the capacity of both airlines and boost productivity in the surrounding society.
