Some15, 986 candidates in Mwala will sit for this year’s national examinations scheduled to kick off from next week, Sub County Director of Education Stephen Kitungu has said.
Of the total 5,911 have registered for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations while 5,196 will sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)examinations.
According to Kitungu 4,879 candidates will write the Grade six Kenya Primary School Assessment(KPSEA) examinations which will run concurrently with KCPE between November 28-30.
Rehearsals for the two examinations will be conducted on November 25, while rehearsals for the KCSE examinations have been slated for Friday to pave way for orals and practicals that will be carried out between November 21-25.
Theory examinations for the KCSE will begin on November 28 and end on December 23.
Speaking Wednesday during the examinations’ briefing at Masii boys, the sub county director of education disclosed that the examinations will be conducted in 489 registered centres.
“We have 214 KCPE examinations centres and 198 and 77 centres for KPSEA and KCSE respectively,” he said.
Kitungu reiterated the ministry’s commitment in delivering credible examinations and asked those involved in administering them to execute their roles as stipulated in the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) guidelines.
“We expect to have examinations without irregularities. We laud the teachers for adequately preparing the candidates,” said the sub county director of education.
Speaking at the same briefing, sub county police commander Ronald Kirui assured of adequate security for candidates and other stakeholders involved.
Kirui disclosed that two police officers will be deployed in each of the 489 examination centres.
“As police we are equal to the task and we will perform our duties faithfully,” he assured.
