Bungoma teachers join the rest of the world to celebrate teachers’ day

Teachers across the country joined others around the world to celebrate and recognise importance of the International teacher’s day.

In Bungoma County, a cross section of teachers expressed their happiness and interest towards this special day by acknowledging the role played by teachers in the society.

International Teachers day is held annually on October 5 and was first celebrated in 1994.

This was established by The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The main objectives are appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world by providing an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching as a profession.

Bungoma D.E.B Head teacher Tobias Khisa urged the government to employ more teachers considering the high numbers of students in schools.

Mr.Khisa also requested the government to build more classes to effectively accommodate all students in the school.

On CBC, Khisa requested the government to improve the mode of learning so that it is affordable to parents with children, whether in public and private schools.

He called on the government to tackle challenges facing CBC to make it more acceptable.

Khisa congratulated teachers for the work they are doing adding, “It is good that teachers have been recognized.”
