Civil servants in Baringo have been urged to shun corruption at work since the vice impedes development.
County Commissioner Abdirasak Jaldesa made the remarks on Tuesday during the Huduma Center Customer Service Week expo held in Kabarnet town, where he lauded the staff for their satisfactory performance in meeting client needs.
“Our clients come first and their satisfaction is very important because they are the reason we are employed by the government and it is important that their issues are sorted efficiently and in a timely manner while avoiding any form of corruption when offering these services,” Jaldesa said.
Jaldesa lauded the staff for their honesty and commended the best performers from each department who were awarded certificates while challenging the rest to emulate them noting that a good organizational image would take them far.
Lydia Ruto, the Huduma Center Manager speaking during the occasion noted that the departmental key values included integrity, courtesy, innovation and transparency, which they uphold with high esteem.
“We want to thank all our customers and inform them that over 15 government services are available at the center and we want to urge them to visit us and give us feedback on areas that require improvement,” she said.
She added that the center has adequate staff and they manage to serve an average of 500 clients per day and more and lauded her staff for their commitment to serve all people irrespective of race or age who visited the center.
Ruto also thanked collaborators who included the county security team, MDAs and the Reale Hospital whose staff pitched a tent to check clients’ blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI).
Richard Cherutich, a client who is disabled, lauded the staff for their excellent performance and thanked the center for having a ramp at the entrance to assist PLWDs to enable access to their offices.
A retired employee, Heglah Kipnangoi advised staff to have the fear of God while serving clients and to save for retirement as they educate their children in order for them to have a bright future.
