Vihiga County has partnered with Equity Bank Mbale branch to establish a youth start-up fund.
Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo said the initiative aims at enabling the youth particularly those from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres to access credit to set up businesses.
The Governor, who spoke while meeting a delegation from the Bank on Friday, lauded the collaboration in the areas of environmental conservation and payroll management.
He stated that his administration is looking forward to further partnership in management and efficient operation of the fund.
“The vast experience Equity Bank has on the young African works programme, we are optimistic that the plan for the fund would soon come to fruition,” he observed.
Ottichilo added that they are keen on partnership with financial institutions to be able to implement development projects in health, water and environment.
