Some 18, 711 farmers have so far been registered in the ongoing National registration of farmers across the country.
While presiding over the Mashujaa celebrations at Oliotiptip Stadium, Loitokok Sub County Deputy County commissioner Antony Maina said this figure was low compared to the vastness of the area.
Maina urged farmers who have not yet registered to do so, so as to benefit from the government subsidized fertilizer and any other government service related to agriculture.
The deputy county commissioner urged farmers in the area not to fear of giving out their personal information to the government enumerators, adding that the information remains confidential and is protected by the data protection act.
However, he advised the enumerators to be accompanied by a village elder or chief when visiting the farmers and warned farmers not to give any information to anyone else purporting to be an enumerator in absence of the village elder or the chief to avoid being taken advantage of by crooks masquerading as enumerators.
The Deputy Commissioner also sensitized the public on Maisha Namba, which is a third-generation digitalized identification number.
He also clarified that the current ID number will remain valid, as Kenyans transits to the Maisha Namba that will be issued at birth and will be used throughout one’s lifetime, warning residents against giving false information during registration of the same.
On his part, Kajiado governor Joseph Ole Lenku in his speech read by Rombo ward administrator George Sailembo, said the government was prepared for any inconveniences that may arise from the anticipated El Nino rains.
He urged farmers to utilize the rains by planting food crops, fodder and fruit trees and warned those living in flood prone areas to remain alert as the rain approaches.
On matters health, Ole Lenku said his government fully supports the president’s universal health coverage program, which aligns well with the Kajiado County health program.
The county Mashujaa day celebrations were held at Mashuuru in Kajiado East Sub County, where Ole Lenku the Guest of honor.
