The government has started payments for close to 5,886 Inua Jamii cash transfer beneficiaries in Mwala, Sub county.
The area Gender and Social Development Officer Francis Musyoki said the beneficiaries including 5,100 older persons, 655 orphaned and vulnerable children and 131 people with disability, will each receive Sh8,000 totaling to Sh47 million.
“The money is for the March-April and May-June payment cycles. The payments started on Tuesday through the six contracted payment service providers,” he said.
Speaking to KNA in his office Wednesday, Musyoki urged the beneficiaries and caregivers to utilize the money for self-advancement.
“We are reminding the beneficiaries to use the money for the purpose it is intended for,” said the gender and social development officer.
He also called on the payment service providers and the beneficiaries to adhere to the covid-19 protocols owing to the current surge of infections in the country.
“Covid-19 containment measures must be strictly observed during the payments,” noted Musyoki.
