Samburi Central Deputy County Commissioner Titus Omanyi has confirmed that a man was killed and a 13 year old girl was shot in the right hand by cattle raiders in Siambu/Porro area before fleeing with an unknown number of goats towards Malaso Valley.
Omanyi told KNA that the girl, a form one student, was looking after her father’s herd before the raiders, suspected to have come from East Baringo struck. She has been taken to the Maralal referral hospital as the dead was also taken to the same facility.
The deceased herder was among those who were providing security to the community herd when the raiders descended on them.
“Tension remains high as security forces have been deployed to the area to recover the stolen animals,” the DCC told KNA.
