Homa Bay County government has assured area residents that it had taken adequate measures to curb the spread of Ebola virus in the County.
The county acting Department of Health Chief Officer Dr Kevin Osuri said they have stepped up surveillance along the shores of Lake Victoria and the islands bordering Uganda to curb spread of the virus.
He said that they were collaborating closely with security personnel to screen all those entering the county from the neighbouring country, and called on the locals to be vigilant and rush to health facilities in case of any suspected cases for screening.
He said that the symptoms of the disease include fever, vomiting, cough, diarrhea, measles like rashes and bleeding from body openings.
This comes in the wake of the national government listing Homa Bay County as among the high risk counties with regard to ebola.
Some of the other counties which were also listed as high risk were Kisumu, Siaya, Busia, Migori and Bungoma amongst others.
