IEBC clears KANU aspirant running for Baringo Central parliamentary seat

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared an aspirant running for Baringo Central parliamentary seat under KANU ticket, after missing the deadline of May 12 due an error by the party.

John Kipchirchir Boiwo who spoke to the press Wednesday at the IEBC grounds in Kabarnet town, Baringo Central Sub-County after being cleared to run, said a different candidate by the name Alice Chesire was erroneously submitted instead of his.

He however noted that the omission prompted him to launch a complaint at the commissions’ dispute tribunal in June to seek clearance on the matter as Chesire was only seeking a nomination slot.

“There was an error during the submission of names by the party that led to me being locked out after the deadline elapsed, but the IEBC tribunal listened to the issue and sorted it speedily and I am glad that I will be in the ballot,” explained Boiwo.

Boiwo thanked his legal counsel together with those of IEBC for the effort put to have him cleared on time to run for the elective position.

The candidate has assured residents of Baringo Central that he will champion education for all, youth unemployment, water accessibility and infrastructure development in his manifesto to be launched soon.

The scholar will be competing with the incumbent MP Joshua Kandie and former legislator Sammy Mwaita who is running on an independent ticket during the August 9 General election.
