Migori Police confiscate Sh1 million bhang

Police have confiscated five sacks of bhang worth Sh1 million in Migori County.

The bhang was seized at Oruba area following a tip off from members of the public over a suspicious behaviour of a middle-aged man in a probox car.

The county police Commander Francis Nguli said that the suspected individual was preparing to transport the bhang camouflaged as five sacks of Omena in probox car to an unknown destination.

“Our police officers got an intelligence of somebody who was in possession of Cannabis sativa in Oruba area leading to the confiscation of five sacks bhang estimated at 300 kilogrammes,” noted Nguli.

He noted that drug traffickers have improvised new ways of disguising how bhang can be transported, but assured the public that the police will always be on the lookout to nab the cartels.

Nguli said that the suspect would be arraigned in court as soon after the police complete their investigations.

However, the police boss called upon the parents to take responsibility for their children during this school holidays to cushion them from drug abuse.

He thanked the members of the public for working hand in hand with the police to ensure the fight against societal vices remains on course.

In August this year, police intercepted another consignment of bhang of the same value in Masongara area-Kuria East Sub County that was in transit to Migori town.
