NHIF Warns of Fake Job Advertisements Circulating on Social Media

The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has warned the public of fake job
advertisements circulating on social media platforms.
In a statement, the state corporation clarified that there are currently no job openings
for the positions advertised, and urged citizens to only consider information from its
official website or social media channels.
The fake advertisement, which included job opportunities for social workers, nurses,
and nutritionists, had a deadline for January 31 and instructed candidates to apply.

This is not the first time that NHIF has had to issue a disclaimer about fake job
advertisements.
Just two weeks ago, the corporation also denied any involvement in a different job
advertisement that had been circulating online.
Fake job advertisements have been on the rise in Kenya, especially with the increase in
misinformation on social media platforms and cyber crimes.
Other state corporations, such as Kenya Power and Lighting Company and Kenya
Electricity Generation Company (KenGen), have also warned the public about fake job
advertisements in the past.

The high levels of unemployment in the country make job seekers particularly
vulnerable to these scams as they hope to secure a slot in the competitive job market.
