Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has assured County employees that their jobs are safe under his regime.
The Governor dispelled rumors that he intended to dismiss staff after taking over power and assured the employees of their job security.
He noted that he did not have any intention of laying off any staff, but developing a strong workforce that will be key to the implementation of his development agenda.
He however warned that staff who will not deliver on their work will have to face the human resource disciplinary procedures even if it meant sacking.
“I want to assure my staff that I have no intention of sacking them but those who will not deliver on their work will have no room in my administration,” he said.
The Governor was speaking at his Matungu home where he hosted a party for residents to celebrate his swearing-in ceremony yesterday.
He noted that he was inheriting a productive workforce which he will further develop to help him serve residents adequately and foster development.
“I am a politician and a manager who pus emphasis on details while dealing with my staff so they have no reason to be worried but focus on their work,” he added.
He said he will tarmac the Harambee- Khaunga- Malaha road for easy transport on the busy road.
He added that Matungu hospital will be upgraded to a Level Four facility to provide specialized medical services to residents who are forced to travel long distances to seek such services elsewhere in the County.
The governor put cartels who he added have frustrated smooth operation at County referral hospital on notice warning that he will not entertain them.
“I am aware that cartels have suffocated the County Referral hospital thereby denying patients quality medical services. I want to warn them that I will direct all my arsenal towards them,” he said
The Governor said he will give priority to the revival of Mumias Sugar Company which he noted was the main source of income for the majority of residents of the larger Mumias area and its environs.
“I am going to involve all stakeholders in the sector to ensure the smooth revival of the Mill devoid of any obstacles like the ones being experienced now,” he said.
The governor thanked residents for their support adding that their total backing during the governor’s election was a clear indication that charity begins at home.
