Nomiya Church backs Ruto Presidency

Nyanza region is poised to witness rapid socio-economic growth under the William Ruto presidency and the locals have been urged to embrace the Kenya Kwanza leadership, Nomiya church members have said.

Speaking during a joint meeting with Siaya Kenya Kwanza coalition officials, the church leaders said the region is endowed with remarkable resources that have remained untapped for years hence contributing to high poverty rates.

The leaders, who included Siaya county United Democratic Alliance chairman, Benard Odinga said the local residents were ready to work with the government and help President Ruto to propagate the bottom-up economic model in achieving vision 2030.

“We shall render every effort in the realization of these aspirations” said the secretary of the group, Julianus Oduru Makagutu who read a press statement after the meeting which was held at the home of the founder of the Nomiya church, the late archbishop Johannes Owalo in Siger sub location in Asembo, Rarieda Sub County.

Makagutu said that the Siaya community will do what it takes to ensure that the hustler nation achieves the goals it set during the campaigns.

UDA Siaya county chairman, Benard Odinga hailed the president for nominating Eliud Owalo as the cabinet secretary for Information, Communication, Technology and Digital Economy despite garnering a few votes from the region.

“We did not meet the target but you have seen it wise not to leave us empty handed,” said Odinga who vied for the Rarieda parliamentary seat on UDA ticket but lost to the incumbent, Otiende Amollo of ODM.

Odinga assured president Ruto that the region will support him fully, adding that the locals will ensure that he gets more votes in 2027.

Owalo’s elder sister, Patricia Owalo who also addressed the occasion said the government must be given time to deliver now that the campaigns are over.

“Rally behind the working government. If we give the leaders a conducive atmosphere, they will deliver and we shall benefit as a community” she said.
