UDA gubernatorial aspirant Patrick Ole Ntutu has picked Engineer Matthew Kipkirui as his running mate in the August poll.
The 29-year-old Engineer, who originates from Emurua Dikirr constituency was selected after a panel of experts interviewed several candidates who had shown interest in the position last week.
The former Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in charge of Labour assured that the selection process was transparent and objective as all the candidates who had shown interest were given a fair hearing before coming up with the final candidate.
The unveiling of the young man, he said, brings hope to the youthful generation and echoes commitment in empowering the young people to achieve their dreams despite their limited resources.
“It is good news to the young generation who probably have not been given a chance to lead. I will walk with the Engineer through this campaign season and I believe we are the winning team,” said Ntutu, assuring the youth that he will always have them in his plans.
Ntutu pleaded with the electorate to vote for him saying he acknowledges that the county is cosmopolitan hence would give equal opportunity to all the tribes living therein.
Eng. Kipkirui accepted the position, thanking the UDA party leadership for recognizing the young people and giving them a chance to grow politically.
“The youth across the county should rest assured that they will be well represented in all areas. I will be a strong advocate for the rights of youth regardless of their backgrounds,” he said.
The announcement was made at Zebu lodge after top UDA officials in the county held a closed-door meeting.
Ntutu originates from the larger Maasai clan living in Narok; Purko, while his deputy choice originates from the Kipsigis community.
The governorship position in the county is a two-horse race where the UDA candidate will be facing off with the ODM candidate Moitalel Ole Kenta.
Kenta, the incumbent Narok North MP is yet to pick his deputy but he has hinted on several occasions that he would prefer a person from the Maa community.
