Nyandarua Vets Employees Afresh

Nyandarua county employees, for the fourth day, continued to throng their respective sub county headquarters for vetting as Governor Moses Badilisha targeted ghost workers.

The employees were required to present their original identification cards, academic and professional certificates as well as letters of appointment, with their photograph taken to accompany a special form they filled.

Employees who spoke to KNA this morning, termed the vetting as harassment, regretting that this was the second time they were being subjected to fresh vetting.

“This is the second time we are being subjected to a headcount after former governor Francis Kimemia also demanded we be vetted. Most of us were seconded to our respective ministries from the national government and if they have sneaked in fake names, then they should be identified through the system without subjecting us to more vetting each time,” regretted Samuel Kamau.

Dr Badilisha, who had appointed a taskforce to look into the composition of the county human resources had last week called for a thorough audit of the payroll, proposing to delegate the decision making to Ward development Committees.

“There is a pattern of irregular recruitment and issuance of appointment letters, with a number being signed by the Boards secretary, while others were signed by the Chairperson and not supported by any minutes of the board,” Dr Badilisha had regretted in a presser.

Dr Badilisha, in an advertisement last week called for applicants for the position of the Chairperson to the County Public Service Board, accusing the former of making unauthorized recruitments.
