Police in pursuit of man who killed Ida Odinga’s bodyguard 

A police officer attached to Mama Ida Odinga was shot dead in the wee hours of Friday morning in Uzima estate in Kisumu County.

Confirming the incident, Kisumu Central Sub County Police Commander Anthony Maina reported that Barrack Otieno Oduor, who was in the company of another male and a female friend, was fatally shot twice in the head and the leg by a manager of one of the clubs in Kisumu following a scuffle.

The assailant had allegedly trailed the trio from a bar in town and upon reaching the estate, he disarmed the bodyguard killing him in cold blood.

He also shot the other man in the leg before fleeing the scene with the bodyguard’s firearm. The victim was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital and is in stable condition.

Detectives from Kisumu are in hot pursuit to arrest the assailant and recover the firearm.

The police report further indicated that a spent cartridge and bullet head of 9mm were recovered at the scene.

The body of the deceased was transferred to Star Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Mrs Odinga was not with the deceased during the incident that occurred near her home in Riat estate.
