the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, together with other world leaders.
She had many important encounters, including one with British actor Idris Elba.
Idris said that Countries need a food systems ministry, not just an agriculture ministry,
one that relies on people-centric policies, incentivizes the private sector for early
adoption of new systems, and has multifaceted objectives. He was speaking from his
experience as a Goodwill Ambassador for the International Fund for Agricultural
Development (IFAD).
The president of Tanzania stated that she intended to change the nation’s food system
and agriculture industry as a whole to incorporate local processing.
She stated that she wanted to expand the importance of Tanzania’s largest economic
pillar beyond just exporting raw materials.
She stated during the session titled “Food Action Partnership: Investment in Greater
Resilience” that “We have developed a national route for food system transformation,
which is intended to strengthen local production, improve livelihoods, and assist reduce
and adapt to climate change.”
President Samia stated during a different session titled “Repowering the World” that
African nations can end the world’s energy crisis.
“When we talk about green energy, we have everything, from cobalt, copper, to nickel
and others… You can mine and produce in Africa, supply energy to Africa, and export it
to other nations, the president of Tanzania said.
“We plan to establish regional power aggregators in Southern and East Africa… If there
is a scarcity in one location, the other may fill it, she said.
In addition, she added, greater coordinated efforts are required to address the genuinely
global energy dilemma rather than countries adopting unilateral strategies.
