Public Asked To Support NGAOs in Policy Implementation

Homa Bay Town Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Jude Wasonga has asked area residents to support the National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) in the implementation of government policies.

This, he said, will ensure the successful implementation of policies as well as effective service delivery to the citizens.

The DCC was speaking at St. Jacob Bright Star Primary School in Wiga Village during the inauguration of Victor Odero Odede as the new Assistant Chief of Rodi Township Sub-Location.

The administrator said there was stiff competition for the position of assistant chief but after an in-depth interview, Odede secured the seat on merit.

“The position was highly competitive and a lot of candidates showed up for the interview. It was tough but Victor did very well,” he said adding, “We conducted the interview on behalf of the Public Service Commission.”

Wasonga said that the position is very demanding and that it is imperative for one to work with members of the public for him or her to be successful in their endeavours.

“The work of an assistant chief comes with a lot of responsibilities and to successfully implement government policies is dependent on how well one works with the public,” stated the DCC.

“This is not a one man’s work as it requires teamwork,” he added.

He asked the new administrator to ensure the brewing of illicit brew in Alwanda and other areas is stopped through collaboration with the public while at the same time calling upon parents to ensure every child goes to school without fail.

“When you officially start working make sure you get rid of illicit brew around areas of Alwanda and others,” said Wasonga.

Rodi Township Sub Location is among other 10 newly created administrative units including Kanyango location, Kanyango South, Kobuola Kogwang South, Kanyach-Kachar South, Simenya, Homa Bay Township, Kalanya-Kanyango, Kalanya North, Kothidha North and Kanyabala North Sub-Locations within Homa Bay Town Sub County.

The DCC said that the creation of these administrative units has led to massive employment opportunities for many within the sub-county.

Odede who was inaugurated ceremoniously promised to work hand in hand with the residents without biasness whatsoever.

“I will endeavor to serve everyone equally regardless of their gender, age or where they come from. Am here as a servant and not as a ruler. We will work together as a people of Rodi Sub-Location,” he promised.
