PWDs urged to take advantage of Hustler Fund

Nandi Hills Sub County People living with Disability (PWD) representative James Kirwa has urged fellow PWDs to take advantage of the Hustler Fund that is set to be launched by his excellence Dr. William Samoei Ruto today.

Addressing the media, Kirwa advised persons who are disabled to be at the forefront in applying for the fund in a bid to empower themselves economically and be independent regardless of their physical impairment.

He also warned persons planning to borrow the fund with no intention of starting any concrete investment saying paying back the fund might end up becoming a burden that can result to even more problems.

“I know there are some people planning to apply for this fund to use it for unnecessary entertainments. If you know you want to use the money for nice meals like chapatis, meat and such like please don’t even attempt to apply. I humbly request you to seek this fund and use it for productive activities such as business and farming,” he advised.

The PWDs’ spokesperson further observed that for one to be able to pay back the money within the stipulated time span and acquire more they should invest the cash in fast income generating businesses.

Kirwa who applauded President Ruto’s government for the hustler fund initiative noted that most of the physically challenged persons are dependent on the physically fit people due to lack of capital to start own empowerment investments that could earn them a living.

He termed this a great opportunity for them to empower themselves and therefore cater for their day to day needs without any hitch.

“With the hard economic times it is a burden to be dependent on someone. It’s time we learn to empower ourselves and be dependent despite our physical challenges,” he pointed out adding that this is a good stepping stone especially for the special group.
