Private Schools intending to implement Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) Junior Secondary School from January 2023 have been urged to focus on equipping Science Laboratories and ensure CBC compliant classrooms.
The Principal Secretary (PS) for State Department for Implementation of Curriculum Reforms, Prof. Fatuma Chege, challenged the school managers to focus on Science Laboratories in order to be registered to implement CBC, as grade six learners are expected to choose the schools from 15th to 30th August, 2022.
Prof. Chege made the appeal while on an inspection tour of Private Schools in Nyandarua County, yesterday, to assess their preparedness to implement CBC for Junior Secondary.
She appreciated the schools with well-equipped laboratories. “Only schools which will be fully CBC compliant will be registered and the grade learners will be able to select in readiness for transition into Junior Secondary School in January 2023,” Prof. Chege said.
The PS advised the Private school managers who have applied for registration to rethink the Education Reforms in order to remain in business even as Junior Secondary Schools are rolled out from January, 2023.
Among the Private schools who have applied to implement JSS and visited by the PS were; G. O. A Education Centre in North Kinangop, Chema Mix Academy and St. Cecilia Academy in Mirangine, Pivot Preparatory School and St. Mark Valley Land in Gathanji, River Bank Academy and Nyahururu Highway Academy in Nyandarua North.
