Trans Nzoia parents urged to ensure their children join form one

Parents and guardians in Trans Nzoia County have been urged to ensure their children who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary school KCPE are admitted in form one in line with the 100 percent form one transition government policy.

Speaking in Endebess, Trans Nzoia County commissioner Samson Ojwang called on Chiefs, their assistants and Nyumba kumi clusters across the county to ensure no student stays at home.

“I would like to urge all the parents across this county to take their children to school for this is the only equalizer for those who have and those who do not; the rich and the poor,” Ojwang’ said.

He called on local administration officers to report any cases of students who have failed to join form one in their localities to ensure that the government gets to know the reasons why.

“Ensure all students from your area of work join the secondary school and if we find a student who has not gone to school you will show cause why you let that happen,” Ojwang’ warned.

He added that the government through the ministry of education, has subsidized school fees for students across the country where parents whose children are in day schools are required to pay only Sh9000 per year.

He warned both Primary and secondary school teachers against sending the students home for failure to pay school fees this year’s academic calendar is very short and the students need enough time to prepare for the national examinations that will be undertaken in December.

The county commissioner also warned men to desist from sexually abusing school girls stressing culprits will be dealt with ruthlessly.

He also warned chiefs, their assistants and parents against colluding with defilers to settle sexual abuse cases out of court.

“There has been an increase in child pregnancy cases in this constituency due to the high level of poverty in the area with a large number of squatters and those working as casuals at the ADC farms being culprits, “he said.
