Loitoktok Sub County Director, Teacher Service Commission Mr. Fredrick Chemoi, has called upon local non-government organisations to work closely with department of education.
Chemoi, while speaking to KNA in his office in Loitoktok expressed concern that some non-government actors in education are doing their educational programmes without consulting the ministry.
Chemoi notably said some organizations are employing their teachers without prior consulting his office for directions on qualifications of those teachers as guided by TSC.
He said currently for one to be allowed to teach in any school, he must be qualified and registered with TSC.
Additionally, Chemoi pointed out complying with TSC directives teachers employment will make teachers accountable to the commission as well as school heads hence enhancing mutual service delivery.
The Sub County TSC Director further called upon the organizations to familiarize themselves with TSC policies on organizing capacity building workshops for their teachers.
He said the TSC has stipulated guidelines and policies on how to approach workshops urging the organizations to make the workshop formal as stipulated in TSC code of regulations.
The director also challenged private schools not to do things parallel to TSC since they use same syllabus urging them to be sending their teachers to workshops organized by his office.
On staffing of teachers, Chemoi observed that this is a big challenge in the sub county however he lauded the boards of management for going extra mile in ensuring they bridge the gaps; also appreciating the contribution of the organisations in staffing.
He said TSC will continue with capacity building of teachers through workshops and mentorship programs with an aim of improving quality of teaching in Loitoktok Sub County.
