Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday urged public administrators and security apparatus to work within their jurisdiction without fear of interference from the executive.
Mr Gachagua cited that public administration and security apparatus were misused by previous executives by being involved in politics of the day.
Speaking during World Food Day celebrations at Rombo Division in Kajiado County he said Kenya Kwanza administration will not use administrators or security agents to gain political mileage or assigning them duties that do not fit their job description.
He said the government has no intention of misusing them or the Cabinet Secretaries that will be soon appointed noting that the executive does not need KRA, police or the CSs to manage politics.
The Deputy President urged them to carry out their duties within their jurisdiction and in accordance with the law.
Gachagua particularly pointed out that there will be no more extrajudicial killings as witnessed in previous administration which was allegedly associated with police.
He added that this is the reason why President William Ruto disbanded DCI’s Special Service Unit, a squad associated with unexplained deaths of citizens whose bodies were recovered from the infamous River Yala.
However, Gachagua called upon the police to carry out their duties diligently, adding, those apprehended for various offences will be arraigned in court for prosecution noting that their role is to safeguard the lives of Kenyans.
The deputy president further noted that the president has appointed professionals to head the directorate of criminal investigation and in police service.
Separately, Gachagua urged all those elected and nominated for various political positions within Kajiado to unite and work as a team and promised to spearhead their unity.
Legislators from Kajiado who spoke during the event urged Gachagua to fast-track tarmacking of ILasit- Taveta road which is in a pathetic state.
Parashina Sakimba, MP Kajiado South Constituency said once tarmacked the road will open up the region and enhance food security in the area which is rich in food production.
