Narok County business community want area residents to embrace the new administration so as to foster development agenda in the county.
The county Chamber of Commerce Director Hezron Koori said most of the leaders elected in the just concluded general elections were new and needed support from the residents so that they can implement the promises they made before they were elected in office.
He asked immediate former Narok North MP Moitalel Ole Kenta who lost his gubernatorial bid to Patrick Ntutu to accept the results and move on for the good of the area residents.
“As we congratulate our Governor elect, we also want to ask Ole Kenta to drop his move to challenge the results in court of law and instead support the governor elect,” said Koori.
The business man who spoke from his Narok office said politics is a game of numbers where some individuals were bound to lose asking all the losers to support the elected officials.
He reiterated that the elections were over hence the county needed to get back to normal businesses so as to grow the economy and boost people’s livelihood.
“We cannot dwell on one thing forever; we need to embrace the elected leaders so that we can move one. I believe every leader elected had a good manifesto that will help all the residents,” he said.
Ntutu, former Labour Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) who was vying on an UDA ticket garnered 158,100 votes against ODM’s Kenta who got 148,270 votes.
Speaking during a thanks giving ceremony held at his Olopirik home in Narok West Sub County, Ntutu extended an olive branch to his competitor inviting him to work with him so as to grow the county.
However, Kenta disputed the results and expressed interests of moving to high court to challenge the results that he said were marred with malpractice. Already, five cases were in court where the presiding officers were nabbed swapping votes casted in favour of Kenta with that of Ntutu.
Ntutu is succeeding outgoing Governor Samuel Tunai who served for two terms as the county governor. His attempts to vie for the senatorial seat were not futile after he was defeated by the incumbent senator Ledama Ole Kina.
