The residents of Muruka Kandara constituency have lauded President Ruto’s proposed cabinet lineup that includes Kandara MP Alice Wahome.
Among the cabinet nominees unveiled on Tuesday by the President Kandara member of parliament Alice Wahome will hold the Water and sanitation docket as the cabinet secretary.
Wahome who is a lawyer by profession had been reelected as the member of parliament for the third time and has been a close ally of the president.
“We thank the president for appointing two cabinet secretaries from Kandara. It is a great honour and privilege for our county” noted Waithira Muithirania.
Other than Alice Wahome, the other is Njuguna Ndungu from Gacharage, Kandara was nominated to be the cabinet secretary for finance and economic planning.
Consequently,following Wahome’s appointment to the cabinet, a by-election will be conducted in Kandara.
This has seen Waithira Muithirania who contested for the Murang’a women representative position in the august polls angle to succeed Wahome in the parliamentary seat that will be declared vacant if the latter’s nomination is approved by the National Assembly.
Muithirania, a two-time contestant garnered 111,163 votes on a jubilee ticket and lost to Beatrice Njeri who garnered 278,428 votes on a UDA ticket
Muithirania has since decamped to the United Democratic Movement(UDA) in a bid to clinch the Kandara Parliamentary seat.
