Governor Ntutu assures residents of improved health care

Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has reassured residents that the ongoing expansion of Narok County Referral hospital and construction of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campus will be completed in three months’ time.

Ntutu spoke today when he toured the ongoing constructions at the hospital grounds where he said he is committed to boost the health sector in his first 100 days in office.

“We want to completely change the way we manage things in the health sector. We want to ensure that all the health facilities have enough medicine,” the governor said.

Ntutu revealed that the quarterly medicine will arrive next week saying he will meet all the heads of the 93 dispensaries, 25 health centres and four referral hospitals in the county to put guidelines on how the medicine will be distributed.

“I no longer want to hear that some health facilities did not receive medicine. That is why I will be meeting the heads of these facilities to put things in order before the medicine is distributed,” he said.

Ntutu was accompanied by two top doctors from India; Dr Sanjeev Bagai, the President India Child Health Association and Dr Rajesh Luthra.

Also present was Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde and Narok County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro.

The team will visit all the health facilities in the county for the next two days with an aim of improving services at the facilities.

Dr.Bagai assured governor Ntutu that they will work closely with the county to improve the health sector in the county by ensuring the hospitals run efficiently and effectively.

“The governor invited us here to come and assess the health facilities and advise him on how he can improve the health sector. We have so far seen four health centres and we are happy that they are running well,” he said.

Dr Bagai said every patient in all parts of the world should get access to good health care at a low price.

“The hospitals should be profitable to the residents meaning the hospitals should run efficiently to give better health care at a cheap price and the services should be readily available. Patients in emergency should not travel far distances to get treatment,” he said.
