Youth in Njoro have been urged to enroll in Technical Training Institutions (TTI) in order to gain hands-on skills and be competitive in the current job market.
Speaking during the inspection of the ongoing construction of the Njoro TTI, the area legislator, Charity Kathambi observed that the demand for qualified specialists is growing and thus should not let this opportunity slip away from them.
Through the training at the institutions, Kathambi noted that the students will be able to acquire skills that will enable them improve their livelihoods positively thus making a contribution to the economy through job creation in manufacturing, agro-processing and value addition sectors.
She applauded the progress of its construction saying that it will be open very soon for those eligible to join.
The government is geared towards improving the infrastructure and educational facilities of the technical institutions hence the need for parents to continue encouraging their children to join and better their lives.
The opening for students in such institutions to benefit from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has seen an increase in the intake from 55,945 in 2013 to 249,316 by 2021 and according to the MP, this was a positive trajectory and the effort should not be watered down.
