Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has called on political leaders to conduct their campaigns peacefully while seeking elective seats in the forthcoming general elections.
The governor said a non-violent campaign is the best way to go and promote unity among the electorates who are democratically privileged to choose their preferred candidates.
“Let us conduct our political drives in a calm and peaceful manner and accommodate divergent political views,” he said.
At the same time, Oparanya said his promised appointment as Cabinet Secretary for Treasury and Economic Planning should motivate residents of the Western region to rally behind Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
He exuded confidence that Odinga will win and garner the majority of votes from the region.
“Odinga has shown his love and confidence for people from the region by appointing me to take charge of Treasury. Let us reciprocate by rallying behind him to the last man,” said Oparanya.
He asked voters to elect parliamentary candidates vying on the Azimio ticket so as to give Odinga numerical strength in parliament to run Government.
The Governor noted that Parliament was instrumental in running affairs of the government and that is why it is important for voters to give Azimio Government numbers to be in control of state affairs in both senate and National assembly.
Oparanya said he has launched several campaigns for Azimio in the Western region and will continue to do vigorous campaigns in the entire region for Odinga before elections.
Oparanya who was addressing residents in Marama West ward in Butere Sub County was accompanied by MPs Elsie Muhanda (Kakamega), Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani), Ayub Savula (Lugari) and Tindi Mwale (Butere).
