One person died and six were injured after they were involved in a grisly road accident at Suswa area along Narok-Maai Mahiu Road.
Narok East Sub-County Police Commander Mr Jared Marando said the accident occurred after a Probox and a Toyota Noah collided head-on.
He said the accident occurred at around 6pm near Suswa Girls Secondary School area and it involved a Toyota Noah and a Toyota Probox whose driver succumbed injuries while being taken to hospital.
The police officer said that upon reaching the location of the accident, the Toyota Noah which was headed towards Nairobi direction overtook other motor vehicles without giving way to oncoming traffic thus colliding head-on with the oncoming Probox.
As a result of the accident the driver of the probox died while six other people among them the driver of the Noah vehicle, three children aged between 14 and nine years and one adult passenger suffered injuries.
The injured were rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital for treatment and are in fair condition and the deceased’s body preserved at the same facility’s morgue awaiting autopsy and identification.
The wreckages of the motor vehicles were towed to Ntulele Police Station grounds awaiting inspection.
Mr Marando cautioned drivers plying the busy highway to desist from over speeding especially during this festive month when many Kenyans are travelling to various destinations for holidays.
