Accident claims life

One person has succumbed to injuries after the lorry they were travelling in was involved in an accident along the Molo-Njoro road.

The lorry ferrying potatoes to Nairobi is said to have failed it’s breaks at Arimi area, where it felled and rolled severally into a river about 30 feet from the ground.

Area Deputy Sub-county Police Commander, Harrison Matheka, confirmed the incident, saying that the driver of the lorry is nursing serious injuries at Nakuru Level 5 Hospital.

Matheka noted that the area where the lorry was involved in the accident during the night, is a black spot and thus urged motorists to be extra cautious, when approaching the area.

The place has sharp corners and ditches, thus the need to use a lower speed. A few metres from the area, another personal car lost control and plunged into a ditch.

Luckily, the driver and a passenger inside the car escaped death by a whisker, as they escaped unhurt.

As accident cases continue to rise in the country, motorists are cautioned to take safety measures while using roads, in order to avoid risking their lives and those of their passengers.

Both the lorry and the car were towed to Molo Police Station.

The body of the deceased is lying at the Elburgon Sub-county mortuary, awaiting identification.
