Benevolent Assistance

The Nakuru County Government Department of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance Thursday offered support to a family affected by a fire tragedy in Kelelwet village, Barut ward, Nakuru West Sub County.

Barut Ward Administrator, Mr. Gideon Kiprotich, led the effort by providing essential items to the affected family that included maize and beans, cooking oil, and beddings.

Mr. Kiprotich said the items were meant to help the family rebuild their lives, after the fire tragedy, where they lost everything inside the burnt house.

Kiprotich who was accompanied by Disaster Management Officer Edwin Cheruiyot and the Barut Ward Coordinator, took the opportunity to raise awareness among the residents about the upcoming El Niño rains, emphasizing the vulnerability of the Ward to landslides and floods.

Additionally, he encouraged parents and guardians to take advantage of the ongoing ward bursary application, ensuring that education remains accessible to all across the county.

Mr. Festus Sang, speaking on behalf of the neighbors and residents, expressed gratitude to Governor Susan Kihika and the County Administration as a whole for their swift response and actions during times of humanitarian emergencies.

Unlike in the past when such disasters were left to kind neighbours and relatives to salvage the families, there has been a notable charitable attitude towards affected families, which wananchi highly appreciate.
