A section of Bomet County residents have expressed high expectations about today’s ruling by the Supreme Court of Kenya following petitions seeking to overturn the IEBC’s declaration of Dr William Ruto as President-elect.
At Bomet bus terminus, Edwin Langat who is the manager of Narok Line Services said he hoped the Martha Koome-led team of judges will make a wise decision so that business would go back to normal.
Langat said since the petitions were lodged, there has been less travel to Nairobi and parts of Western and Nyanza regions. He said the same has aggravated the high cost of living saying he hoped today’s decision will bring relief and that peace would prevail whichever the ruling would be.
According to Fredrick Raia the people of Kenya voted peacefully and that the tranquility that followed the announcement by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC should to be maintained by all means.
At the same time, Sharon Chelag’at who plys Bomet-Mahi Mahui route, said the ruling by the seven judges was expected to bring businesses back to normal. Chelag’at said as a woman she was skeptical about going out to work before the ruling.
She said despite the just concluded elections being peaceful, the challenge of the presidential election reminded the women of the past skirmishes that affected them the most.
She however prayed that Kenyans will maintain the current peace and that Kenya has to go ahead having voted in a peaceful and transparent manner.
Furthermore, Bomet town and its environs is peaceful and the masses are going on with their day to day businesses.
