Four funds operated by the government to uplift the vulnerable from poverty should be collapsed into one and put under the patronage of the county women representatives, Siaya women Representative Dr. Christine Ombaka has proposed.
Dr. Ombaka said that the Youth Enterprise fund, Women Enterprise fund, Uwezo Fund and the national government affirmative action fund should be put under one management to benefit more people in the rural area.
She was speaking at Sidundo trading centre in Usonga location in Siaya after officially opening a multi-million shilling open air market constructed by the national government affirmative action fund.
She urged the government to pump more money into the funds, adding that the demand from the vulnerable groups was so high that the current allocations could not adequately serve.
“The funds have greatly impacted on the lives of the rural community especially the women and youths,” he said.
Dr. Ombaka, who was flanked by Siaya county NGAAF chairman Bishop Martin Arara and the fund coordinator Mary Ochola, called on women and youths to form groups and start table banking activities so as to benefit from the revolved funds
